Who can become a WatchDOG at Nixon Elementary?
Any father or father figure of a Nixon student can sign up to be a WatchDOG. Before leting you loose, however, you will be requred to watch a training video and purchase an official WatchDOG tee-shirt or sweatshirt.
How can I learn more about becoming a WatchDOG?
We will have a kickoff meeting on August 2015. If you can't make it to the meeting, but still are interested in becoming a WatchDOG, contact our school representative: Jeremy Draper (Depjerm33@yahoo.com).
How long is a WatchDOG day?
The day begins at 8:45 am and lasts until approximately 3:30 pm.
How many days does a WatchDOG volunteer?
WatchDOGS are asked to volunteer at least one day throughout the school year but are encouraged to come as often as they are able. Ideally, we want to have every school calendar day scheduled with a WatchDOG.
How can I schedule a date to volunteer?
You can schedule a day to volunteer online by logging in and choosing a date. You will need to have an active account.
Do I have to buy a WatchDOG shirt?
Yes, a WatchDOG Shirt is a required uniform to be worn during your volunteer day. The shirt cost $15.
What do WatchDOGS do at Nixon?
- Help with student drop-offs in the morning.
- Volunteer in the classrooms as needed.
- Patrol the hallways, playground, and the school's perimeter.
- Pickup any debris such as abandoned lunch pails, sweatshirts, or school suplies.
- Monitor the lunch area.
Will I be able to see my kid throughout the day?
Yes. In addition to eating lunch with your student, you may be called to volunteer in your student's classroom at least one time during the day.
